Structure

This template consists of a section for each writing aspect. They can be listed in two views: List (default) and Approved.

Style guide

In the List view (default), every section can be filtered according to several properties:

Last edited Time When the page was edited Date and time
Last edited by User Who edited the page User
Approved date Time When the page was approved. Style guide manager should set this date when appropriate. Date and time
Approved Formula True if Approved date is later than Last edited, so it turns to false if a page is edited after it was approved. True or false
Contributors Multi-select Who the page is addressed to. Copywriters
Web writers
Social media managers
Legal team
UX/UI writers
Technical writers
Translators
Audience Multi-select Who the contributor is writing for. Employees
Vendors
Customers
Target language Selection Language that applies. Any language
Target region Selection Regional market that applies. Any region
Language-related Checkbox Specifies if the instructions on the page are related to the language or to the content’s look and feel. True or false

In the Approved view, managers can list pages that were edited by other users and need approval.


How to use this template

At the top of every page you’ll find its icon, its title and its properties. Scroll down to see actual instructions. Examples are provided as “Toggle list” so that you can add as many as you want without cluttering the page, like this:

To customize your style guide you should fill each page with your own instructions. You can also add missing pages, delete unwanted ones, and edit their properties to suite your needs.

We recommend that you give your instructions briefly and directly.
